Wuyuanlu 無冤錄

Wuyuanlu 無冤錄 "Records of avoiding injustice" is an anonymous book on unjust law cases dating from the Yuan period 元 (1279-1368). In the Ming-period 明 (1368-1644) encyclopaedia Yongle dadian 永樂大典 the 2-juan-long book is said to have been written by a certain Wang Yu 王與 (1260-1346).

The book quotes from the collections Xiyuanlu 洗冤錄 and Pingyuanlu 平冤錄, but also includes some cases from the early Yuan period. The first part includes the statutes for the investigation of law cases (Bian'an zhangcheng 辦案章程 or Guanli zhangcheng 官吏章程), including methods of examining bodies. The second part (Shishang bianbie 屍傷辨別) is dedicated to topics of forensic medicine, with the help of which difficult cases can be solved justly. Although many cases and methods are quoted from older texts, the Wuyuanlu also presents new findings and improves earlier methods which makes it one of the three great ancient books on forensic medicine (together called Jianyan sanlu 檢驗三錄 "Three recods of investigation and examination").

The Wuyuanlu to be found in Wu Zi’s 吳鼒 (1755-1821) collections Song-Yuan jianyan sanlu 宋元檢驗三錄 from 1812, and in the seriesZhenbilou congshu 枕碧樓叢書 and Jingxianglou congshu 敬鄉樓叢書.
