Wenshi 文釋 "Explanations to texts" was written during the Southern Dynasties period 南朝 (420-589) by Jiang Sui 江邃, courtesy name Xuanyuan 玄遠, from Jiyang 濟陽 (today's Lankao 蘭考, Henan). He served the Liu-Song dynasty 劉宋 (420-479) as an erudite in the National University (taixue boshi 太學博士), then as director in the Ministry of Sacrifices (cibu lang 祠部郎), concurrently Cavalier Attendant-in-ordinary (sanji changshi 散騎常侍), and then secretarial aide of the Grand Minister of Education (situ jishi canjun 司徒記室參軍). Jiang was famous for his scholarship and his work in semantic explanations of texts.
His book Wenshi with a length of 10 juan is lost, but four fragments have survived as quotations is other books. They are found, with annotations, in Ma Guohan's 馬國翰 (1794-1857) series Yuhan shanfang jiyi shu 玉函山房輯佚書.
