Linquan jieqi 林泉結契

Linquan jieqi 林泉結契 "Forests and sources in unison" is a collection of poems on plants and animals written during the early Southern Song period 南宋 (1127-1279) by Wang Zhi 王質 (1127-1189), courtesy name Jingwen 景文, style Xueshan 雪山, from Xingguo 興國 (today in Jiangxi). He was junior compiler (bianxiu 編修) in the Bureau of Military Affairs (shumiyuan 樞密院), later controller-general (tongpan 通判) of Jingnan 荊南, and then of Jizhou 吉州. His collected writings are Shaotaolu 紹陶錄 and Shizongwen 詩總聞.

The collection itself was compiled during the early Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Song Lao 宋犖 (1634-1713), who selected poems on the animated world from the treasury of Wang's lyrics. The book of 5 juan length is divided into the parts Shanyou ci 山友辭, Shanyou xuci 山友續辭, Shuiyou ci 水友辭, Shuiyou xuci 水友續辭, and Shan-shuiyou xuci 山水友續辭. The "mountain" chapters mainly deal with birds, while the "water" chapter include poems on water creatures. The "supplementary" parts (xu 續) are dedicated to plants growing in mountains, and waters, respectively. Each poem is introduced by a brief description of the animal or plant described. Because Wang wandered around after his retirement, his poems go back to observation in nature.

The collection is included in the series Xuehai leibian 學海類編, Liang-Song mingxian xiaoji 兩宋名賢小集 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
